“If Women Will Not Be Inclined” – Vocal music of the 19th and 20th Centuries Performed by Vertical Player Repertory

“If Women Will Not Be Inclined” – Vocal music of the 19th and 20th Centuries including songs, arias and ensembles by Lili Boulanger, Amy Beach, Pauline Viardot & Maria Malibran.

In this unique recital, the ensemble Vertical Player Repertory (https://www.facebook.com/VerticalPlayerRep/#) will pay tribute to four women composers whose genius and persistence overcame the odds: celebrated 19th opera diva sisters Maria Malibran and Pauline Viardot, American composer and concert pianist Amy Marcy Cheney Beach, and the tragically short-lived, but deeply influential Lili Boulanger.

Included in their program – courtesy of Women’s Philharmonic Advocacy‘s kind permission to use their new engraving – will be the first known public hearing of Amy Beach’s unpublished song “If Women Will Not Be Inclined.”

The recital will take place on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 4:00pm at Behind the Door, 219 Court Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Admission is $20, and all proceeds will go to the Anti Violence Project.
